Austrian Rural Development Programme 2014 - 2020 – Text of the Programme after its first amendment (version 2.1)

On 4 May 2016 the European Commission approved the first application for amendments to the Austrian Rural Development Programme 2014 - 2020.

To be able to take better account of the challenges in agriculture and in rural areas, the first amendment to the Programme sets new priorities especially as regards investments, the agri-environmental programme and animal welfare.

The text of the Programme, adjusted to the approved proposals for amendment, and the associated annexes to the Programme are available in the download area. Detailed information about the modifications are listed and described in Chapter 1.1 of the Programme.

In principle, proposed amendments can be applied only after the Special Ordinance on the Subsidisation of RD projects (which is the BMLFUW’s national legal base for implementat

ion) has been adjusted to fit the programme amendments and has entered into force. However, for certain modifications a retroactive application of the Special Ordinance until the time when the application for amendment was filed is possible. Detailed information saying from when and in which projects, or for which modifications, this rule (retroactive application) applies, is provided on the website of the Federal Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry, Environment and Water Management (in German) Website des Bundesministeriums für Land- und Forstwirtschaft, Umwelt und Wasserwirtschaft.

Rural development is the key element of Austria's agricultural policy. It fosters a modern, efficient and sustainable agricultural sector, but also supports the regional economy and the municipalities and places emphasis on social issues.

Until 2020 EUR 1.1 billion will be available annually; more than half of this amount is from the European Union.
